Why does it take a minute to say hello and forever to say goodbye?-author unknown

The other day, one of my students asked me "how do  I say goodbye" ?  The student had a really difficult time saying goodbye to one of  his new found friends here at the school.  Here at ESH, students are always coming and going.  They arrive from different parts of the world including Japan, Korea, Italy, Brazil, Mexico and the list can go on..... and then they return to their respective countries.

I personally don't like goodbyes but I told the student that it really isn't a goodbye.  Although it's hard not to see your close friends on a daily basis, remember that true friendships can survive the separation of miles.  Thanks to technology, it's now easier to stay in touch with people than at any other time in history!  Some suggestions, send cards or letters, use the phone or the net, or keep a journal or album.

You'll meet new friends and reconnect with the ones you already have after you go back home but they don't have to replace the one's you left behind.  Having friends in different places, experiencing different things, makes life much more interesting.  Remember that  there is "good" in goodbye, it gives you a chance to say "hello" again !

Speak to you again!
