Natural disasters are more letal then ever. Every day we hear that thousands of people die due to a hurricane, millions die in consequence of severe droughts, and so on. Of course it is shocking realize how impotent we are against the nature strenght that kills our peers, but we have to find out the causes and then we will be able to cope with natural disasters and probably minimize their damages. Overpopulation, lack of information and innactvness of governments are some reasons that worsen the consequences of natural phenomenas.
When a natural disaster strikes an overpopulated area it is more likely that more people will die. If years before the avarage size of cities was 1 million citizens, nowadays it is commom for cities to be bigger than 10 million of habitants. The humman action transformed bad news into traged.
Many citzens are not enought informed about how to proced in extreme situations. For example: what to do, where stay, suplies that might be needed, and so on. Then, meny people have no idea how to behave, and a desperate time is not the best time to have doubts.
Moreover, governments just limited their role to awarn the population and solve the problems after the traged happened. It is necessary a continous work to improve the resistence of buildings, inform the population, better distribute the concentrations of people and invest in search to predicte potential natural disasters.
Once that the humankind learned how to live with the nature it will not be necassary to fight against it anymore. This way less lost everyone will sufer and less traged will be in newspapers everyday.
